After many delays and continuances, the alleged perpetrators of an anti-gay attack that occurred on March 6, 2009, adjacent to the University of Cincinnati’s campus will know their fate. Matthew Kafagolis and Ethan Kirkwood were both charged with felonious assault, but their charges were later dropped down to assault. Each face a non-jury trial in front of Judge Fanon A. Rucker on Aug. 7, at 9 a.m. at the Hamilton County Court House.

It’s such a shame that their charges would even be reduced. I hope the judge on the 7th decides to take a stand against hate crimes and the justice system finally does its job.
