Cincinnati Pride Day 1: disappointing

The first day of Cincinnati Pride, held on Saturday, June 13, at Hoffner Park in Northside, was lackluster. For some reason, Cincinnati Pride had the parade and all of the major acts on Sunday, and it just didn’t have the same appeal as if the parade was on a Saturday. There were still quite a few people there for it being the off day of Pride, but it just wasn’t the same. But it was still pretty fun.

I had at least three people say to me, “Are they just letting people get up there and karaoke now?” in reference to the performers on stage. (I arrived as the performers right before Perfect Equal were leaving the stage, so I have no judgment on the people who came before that time.) There were two standouts though: Perfect Electric and Pike. The two bands certainly rocked out and kept the crowd entertained.

A King Thing performed in between Perfect Equal and Pike’s sets, and that was the only drag performance I saw for the day.

Oh, and of course, a fabulous drag  queen hosted the whole thing. And her dress was so amazing, it was to die for.
