Friday, June 19, Wall St. kicked off Pride weekend in Columbus with a drag extravaganza that was not to be missed. The show was themed Pride revival, and took after the stylings of a typical church revival, except with a few twists (Gay people, drag kings and queens – you know, just minor differences).
A church-style choir kicked off the show, complete with robes adorned with rainbow accessories. The Royal Renegades, the resident drag troupe, did several numbers centered around the theme like “Only The Good Die Young” and “What If God Was One Of Us?”
Viva! Valezz and the Velvet Hearts tantalized the crowd with their vintage World War II, pinup-style burlesque performance. Later Viva! performed solo and wowed onlookers by spinning her tassel pasties – without any hands.
Cincinnati’s very own Black Mondays were special guests and performed a few classics as well as the new number “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.”
The Royal Renegades brought down the house with their closing number of “Poker Face,” that centered around an Alice In Wonderland theme with their emcee for the evening playing the evil Queen of Hearts.
