The Ohio Lesbian Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The festival takes place September 19-20, 2009, at Frontier Ranch (8836 York Rd. SW) in Pataskala, Ohio.
The festival is a nonprofit, volunteer driven, womyn-only event designed to promote womyn’s economy, community and art. The festival recognizes that in the world at large, heterosexism and woman hatred are the norm. The festival was founded on the premise that lesbians and queer womyn need opportunities and spaces to recognize and support each other, to define our culture, to find our own strengths and to be empowered.
This year, TransOhio’s own Melissa and Paula will be hosting a workshop titled Transgendered Lesbians: Our Lives and Our Love.
Paula and I will discuss MTF transgendered concepts and issues in general and tell our personal stories covering our transitions and the issues we deal with during the same. We will talk about our relationship as a lesbian couple and some of the issues that come with this as well. We would love to have dialog with all of you and encourage questions (we are very open people and are willing to discuss anything). We look forward to being a part of this year’s festival and celebrating womanhood.
All womyn are welcome.
