Resource: ACLU provides free speakers

Are you a teacher looking for a guest speaker, a citizen  planning a program for a local community organization or a student organizing events for your campus group?

The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio provides speakers to over 100 community groups, schools and professional organizations across the state annually. The speakers are members of the ACLU staff and board of directors, faculty at local colleges and universities, and other civil liberties experts and activists.

The ACLU can present on a variety of topics, including:

  • Missing the Mark: Juvenile Justice in Ohio
  • BUSTED – What to do When You’re Stopped by the Police
  • The LGBT Rights Revolution and Where Ohio Fits
  • National Security and Civil Liberties in the Age of Obama
  • Students! Know Your Rights

The ACLU will work with you to select a date, time and topic that suits your organization and can usually provide a speaker at no cost.

To request a speaker, visit the ACLU’s web site, call 216.472.2200 or e-mail

  2. Thanks so much for this intelligent website;this is the kind of thing that keeps me on track through these day. I have been looking around for this site after being referred to them from a colleague and was pleased when I found it after searching for some time. Being a avid blogger, I’m glad to see others taking initivative and contributing to the community. Just wanted to comment to show my approval for your website as it’s very energizing, and many writers do not get acceptance they deserve. I am sure I’ll visit again and will spread the word to my friends.

What do you think?
