Want to protect marriage? Ban divorce.

Rescue Marriage was given the green light to begin collecting the 694,000 signatures necessary to put a divorce ban on the 2010 California ballot.

“People who supported Prop 8 weren’t trying to take rights away from gays, they just wanted to protect traditional marriage,” John Marcotte, founder of Rescue Marriage, told Cockeyed.com. “That’s why I’m confident that they will support this initiative, even though this time it will be their rights that are diminished. To not support it would be hypocritical.”

  1. this is bullshit. Banning divorce will just take away from the rights of the people. I don’t believe in divorce, but I do believe in the rights of the American people, and they have a choice. Just like abortion is a choice, or adoption, or smoking, or gay marriage, or anything else that the people chose. It is close minded individuals that are ruining this country, and in the end will destroy America as we know it.

    • …that’s the point. They know it won’t pass but it will show the ignorance of the people who supported prop 8.

Seriously?!!!! jesus will love me less? no spouse ABUSE?????? wtf is wrong with you people? only imbeciles like yourselves will vote yes. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  3. this is freaking hilarious. I loved it. I wonder what would happen if it did end up on the ballot, and it passed. Would there be lawsuits? Will it show the hypocrisy of the vote to over turn gay marriages?

  4. When debating the ‘phobes who claim to believe in the Christian Bible, I love pointing out what their own Messiah said about remarriage after divorce. Catholics either clam up or play the anti-Christian-bigotry card, while non-Catholic Christians rewrite “interpret” those passages to make them mean something completely different.
