Action alert: Urge your senator to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell”

The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network is asking Americans to call their senators and encourage them to end “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will bring the defense bill that includes language repealing DADT to a vote Tuesday. Sen. John McCain, a republican from Arizona, has vowed to filibuster the bill in opposition to the repeal. The bill needs support from 60 senators to overcome the filibuster.

You can contact your senator by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. The switchboard is staffed 24 hours a day, and the operator can tell you who your senators are.

Making the call is quick, easy and has an impact. These people are proof:

Even Lady Gaga is getting on the telephone to end DADT.

I guess she’s no longer kind of busy.

  1. I don’t think DADT should be repealed I think it was Colen Powell that said armed forces people were collecting the large bonuses paid for going to Iraq and then saying they were gay to get out of the forces. If all the military people would do that there would be no one to fight the war and it would stop A GOOD THING . The only ones left in the forces would be the red necks that like to kill and who cares about them.

What do you think?
