Resource: “Supporting Transgender Students”

GenderBloc, a queer student group at the University of Cincinnati that focuses on transgender and genderqueer activism, has created “Supporting Transgender Students,” a new guide for higher education faculty and staff.

This guide contains information for administrators, teachers and other staff members who have never encountered a transgender student. It addresses issues like confidentiality, outing transgender students, preferred gender pronouns, proper terms and other information.

Most of this guide is not UC specific, and anyone who works with students may find it useful.

The Trans Survival Guide” has also been updated to reflect UC’s new gender-neutral restrooms policy and new gender marker change policy.

Both of these guides are available on GenderBloc’s website.
