Quote: Equality opponent on BG non-discrimination ordinances

“God’s people spoke [when they voted down LGBT non-discrimination ordinances.] Churches wouldn’t be able to preach against homosexuality. We continue to love people who live that lifestyle, but the Lord has his rules.”

—Dale Asmus said to the Sentinel-Tribune when it was initially reported Bowling Green, Ohio, residences rejected two ordinances prohibiting discrimination against LGBT people in housing and employment. Approximately 100 votes separate the two sides, and the final poll numbers will come down to absentee and provisional ballots.

  1. The opponents of the ordinances arrogantly said, when they thought they had won the battle, proclaimed that the BGSU student voters were “brainwasahed”, and then said that they’d next target the members of the city council up for reelection, “allowing” one member to stay on because he cast the only no vote.
