In response to the U.S. House of Representative’s vote to defund Planned Parenthood, college students began making protest videos proclaiming, “I have sex.”
Ninety-five percent of people have sex before they are married, and they need to know how to stay safe and healthy. Even those who have chosen to wait until marriage to have sex, still need to know how to be safe and healthy when beginning their sexual activity.
In many parts of America, Planned Parenthood is the only place young people can go to learn about safe sex and contraceptives, or to utilize a myriad of other services like low-cost breast cancer screenings, STI testing and gynecological exams. Cutting funding for Planned Parenthood will leave young and low-income people with few options for these services.
Thousands of Planned Parenthood supporters are assembling today in Washington, D.C., for a rally and lobby day, telling their members of Congress to keep funding the organization.
